A 19-year-old Ohio University student was critically injured tonight after jumping nearly 40 feet from a campus bridge, Athens police said.
A 19-year-old Ohio University student was critically injuredtonight after jumping nearly 40 feet from a campus bridge, Athens police said.
The student was taken by a Medflight helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. The manís name was not releasedbecause police were still notifying family, said Athens police Lt. Joe Stotts.
The student was seen about 8:15 p.m., sitting on a rail of the Richland Avenue bridge by some other students who tried to persuade him to come down, Stotts said.
The man instead jumped the 38 feet off the bridge to whatís known as the Oxbow Trail below, Stotts said.
The man was said to be critically hurt with head and other injuries, according to police dispatchers.
