The Union County Covered Bridge Festival planning committee has selected a logo designed by Carrie Bezusko of Marysville as the winner of a community-wide design contest.

The logo will be used to promote the inaugural Covered Bridge Festival scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 6. Activities are planned throughout Union County, including Plain City, Marysville, Unionville Center and Milford Center.

Bezusko said her winning logo was designed with the following in mind:

To highlight the structural elements of the covered bridges of Union County. The logo features the Culbertson-Treacle Creek Bridge.

To bring in a bit of the flavor of the Union County Chamber of Commerce's new theme ("Where Pride Resides") and logo (sun's rays emanating from behind a stylized "UC"). She stylized the "O" in "Union" to look like the sun.

As the festival will be held in September, she incorporated an autumnal color scheme into the logo.
