Plain City officials have planned a traditional July 4 celebration at Pastime Park that they say has something for everyone.

Plain City officials have planned a traditional July 4 celebration at Pastime Park that they say has something for everyone.

Along with food and music, there will be field-day games, face painting, a 24-foot rock climbing wall, a dunk tank, bounce house and more.

The Fourth of July parade will stage at the north entrance of Pastime Park, proceed south on North Chillicothe Street, west on Main Street (state Route 161), north on Park Street and enters Pastime Park from Park Street.

The schedule of events and contact information for the July 4 celebration includes:

2:30 p.m. -- Parade lineup (To enter a float in the parade, call Kim Yoder at 614-348-9879). 3 p.m. -- Parade step off at the North Chillicothe park entrance.

3:30 p.m. -- Bands set up, sound checks and then break until 5:15.

4 p.m. -- Best decorated bicycle contest, age divisions 7-12 and 13-17.

4:45 p.m. -- Little Miss/Little Mister Plain City contest, age divisions 5-6 and 7-8.

5:15 p.m. -- Music/entertainment begins with rockers "Slamma Jamma" followed by Nashville recording artist Kristy Gill.

5:45 p.m. -- Watermelon eating contest, ages 13 and up; parental consent required for entrants under 18.

9:30 p.m. -- Children's choir, national anthem. 9:45 p.m. -- Fireworks.

Vendor and craft spaces are available.
