The Union County Chamber of Commerce will recognize 24 individuals and two organizations during the annual Salute to Leaders Banquet, sponsored by Memorial Hospital of Union County.

The Union County Chamber of Commerce will recognize 24 individuals and two organizations during the annual Salute to Leaders Banquet, sponsored by Memorial Hospital of Union County.

The event will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Union County Service Center, 940 London Ave., Marysville.

Sixteen honorees are selected by the county's 12 townships, the city of Marysville and the villages of Milford Center, Plain City and Richwood. The other 10 honorees come from a variety of categories, selected by a group of Union County community leaders.

"These organizations and individuals are being recognized by the chamber for making major contributions to the quality of life in Union County," said Christy Clark, public relations and tourism director for the Union County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The 2008 honorees selected by the townships include: MedFlight (Allen Township); Rev. Joseph Rhea (Calhoun Township); Wallace Snyder (Dover Township); Linda McNamee (Jackson Township); Lois Gruenbaum (Jerome Township); Lowell Fitzpatrick (Leesburg Township); Frank and Tim Orahood (Liberty Township); Carol Chandler (Millcreek Township); Larry Fitzgerald (Paris Township); Martha Green (Taylor Township); Mark Lippencott (Union Township) and John Cramer (York Township).

The list of village honorees includes: Maurice (Mac) McCarty (Milford Center); Tail Wills (Richwood) and Charles Lovejoy (Plain City).

The city of Marysville selected Le Herron as its honoree.

Honorees selected by the community leaders and the categories they represent include: Larry Ohnsman (Culture/Arts); Dick Smith (Education); Lane Stillings (Environmental); Alice Liggett (Health/ Healthcare); Kay Bishop (Human Services); Steve Stolte (Leadership); Union County YMCA (Parks & Recreation); Jeff Swartz (Rural Interests); Kim Zacharias (Safety) and Dick Teller (Senior Leadership).

The dinner and award ceremony are open to the public. Tickets are $20 per person and must be purchased in advance by Thursday, Nov. 6, from the Union County Chamber of Commerce, 227 E. 5th St., Marysville.
