Veteran fast-pitch umpire Jim Wharton and a staff of instructors will conduct an OHSAA-approve softball umpire class. The class starts Feb. 4 and runs eight consecutive Wednesdays at Westerville South.

Upon completion of course studies and passing a two-part test on the final day, students will attain an OHSAA license for high school fast-pitch softball and then can pay a fee to secure an ASA umpiring license.

The fee, which is for summer fast-pitch softball, is not included in the the cost of the course.

Capital will conduct the Zenith Volleyball Academy on Sundays through March 1 for boys and girls grades 3-12 at Dublin Jerome High School.

The academy will be guided by Capital women's coach Steven Hinds. Basic skills will be incorporated in every session with a new skill added each additional lesson.

Capital softball coach Nan Payne and pitching coach Jeff Dupler will hold hitting clinics from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 7 and pitching clinics from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday and Feb. 14. There is also a catching clinic from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Feb. 14. The clinics are open to girls grades 5-12.
