The Summerfest '09 Committee of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Marysville has announced that this year's Summerfest will be held from 5 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 7-8, at the church, 1033 W. Fifth St.

The Summerfest '09 Committee of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Marysville has announced that this year's Summerfest will be held from 5 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 7-8, at the church, 1033 W. Fifth St.

The event will feature two nights of family-friendly, live musical entertainment, interactive games and contests, a 5K run and l-mile "Fun Walk," "Toddler Town," a variety of foods and adult casino games.

Dr. Dave Applegate and state Rep. Dave Burke have been named co-honorary chairmen for the festival.

Applegate, his wife, Mary, and children Jenny, John and Jimmy have lived in Marysville and attended Lady of Lourdes Church since 1991. Applegate's professional background includes: private practice at COPC/Marysville Primary Care, serving on the medical staffs of several hospitals, being medical director for the Union County Sheriff's Office and Union County fire departments, serving as president of the Ohio State Coroner's Office and coroner of Union County, and serving as football team physician for Marysville schools.

Burke, his wife, Donna, and children Alexandra and Adam moved to Marysville in 1997, and opened Dave's Pharmacy. The business has been recognized by Cardinal Health and written up in "Pharmacy Today."

In 2005, Burke and his wife received the Business Leaders of the Year Award from the Union County Chamber of Commerce.

Burke's civic involvement has included six years on Marysville City Council. Since their membership with Our Lady of Lourdes Church in 2001, the family has been actively involved in the parish.

"The festival committee is delighted to have these two prominent citizens come on board as honorary co-chairmen as we continue to grow the presence of Summerfest in the Union County community as a quality, family-friendly event," said Summerfest '09 chairman Pete Falzarano.
