Marysville Exempted Village School District treasurer/CFO Delores Cramer will retire from the district effective Feb. 28, 2010. Cramer informed the district's board of education and Superintendent Larry Zimmerman of her intentions earlier this month.

The board approved her retirement at its July 20 meeting, "with regret," Zimmerman said.

Cramer told ThisWeek she doesn't consider her move a retirement but a restart. She said she plans to go back to school to study organizational management, with the hopes of doing consulting work in what she called "getting people in companies to play nice with each other."

Cramer has held her current position in the district since 2001. In all, she has served 30 years as a treasurer in Ohio public schools, including previous positions in Fostoria City Schools, Van Buren Local Schools and Patrick Henry Local Schools. She has also served at various times as president, past president and treasurer of the Ohio Association of School Business Officials and on various committees of the Association of School Business Officials, International.

"This district has been truly successful in part because of your hard work," board president Jeff Mabee said.

Zimmerman credited Cramer with diligence advocating for schools at the state level.

He said the search would begin immediately to find a new district treasurer/CFO.
