Billy Joe Gregg Jr. pleaded guilty on Sept. 24 to six misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty following recent incidents of abuse at a Union County farm that gained national attention.

Billy Joe Gregg Jr. pleaded guilty on Sept. 24 to six misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty following recent incidents of abuse at a Union County farm that gained national attention.

Gregg, 25, of Delaware, appeared before Judge Michael Grigsby in Marysville Municipal Court. He was sentenced to eight months in jail, with credit for four months already served. Six other cruelty charges against Gregg were dismissed.

Gregg also must pay $1,000 in fines or perform the equivalent in community service. He must also complete a counseling program and have no contact with animals.

Gregg still has a fourth-degree felony firearms violation charge pending against him and was scheduled to appear Monday, Sept. 27, in Union County Common Pleas Court.
