A Logan County man involved in a May crash that killed a 14-year-old Marysville girl pleaded not guilty to eight charges.

Christie Reames, 53, of West Mansfield, appeared July 15 before Logan County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark O'Connor for arraignment on charges related to a May traffic crash in Logan County.

Paige Horn, a freshman at Marysville High School, was in the back seat of her father's car on May 15 when it was struck from behind by a 2002 Honda Odyssey minivan driven by Reames. The impact pushed the car into a bridge abutment on U.S. Route 33 near state Route 540, east of Bellefontaine. Horn was pronounced dead at the scene by the Logan County coroner.

A Logan County grand jury indicted Reames July 12 on six felony counts: two counts each of aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault and vehicular assault. Reames was also was charged with two counts of operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, a first-degree misdemeanor.

According to the State Highway Patrol crash report, Reames registered a 0.228-percent blood-alcohol level, nearly three times the amount for a person to be considered driving drunk in Ohio.

According to the Logan County Prosecutor's Office, the judge set a $25,000 bond for Reames.

Judge O'Connor set a scheduling conference for Aug. 15 to set a trial date for Reames.
