Several streets will be closed and parking restrictions imposed because of holiday events planned in Marysville.

On Thanksgiving morning from 8 a.m. to approximately 11a.m., street closures and restrictions will take place over much of downtown and the near east and west ends of town because of a 5K race.

The race will involve approximately 250 runners and walkers over a route that will start and finish in the downtown area. Other main streets affected include West Seventh Street, South Court Street, West Ninth Street, Mulberry Street, West Fifth Street, East Fifth Street, East Sixth Street, Chestnut Street, South Oak Street, East Eighth Street and South Plum Street.

According to the Marysville Police Department, traffic will be routed away from the area as much as possible, with some delays expected.

The annual Uptown Christmas Walk on Monday, Nov. 28, will require the downtown area be free of parking. In addition to closing the four downtown blocks, East Fifth Street will be closed to Oak Street.

However, police will control traffic at Walnut Street for motorists using nearby businesses. The closures will occur from 4 p.m. through 10 p.m.
