The city of Marysville has partnered with the Union County Chamber of Commerce to work on an update of the Marysville Uptown Revitalization Plan.

The current plan, drafted in 2006, must be updated by February 2012 in order to remain eligible for future grants.

"By updating this plan, we intend to continue to build on this positive momentum and within the coming years, we intend to apply for more grant funding, which will allow us to assist in redevelopment efforts," city plannerGreg DeLong said.

Marysville was awarded $400,000 in 2008 through the federal Community Development Block Grant program. Those funds helped 11 local business owners make building improvements.

Additional funds went to streetscape improvements, including new sidewalks and streetlights.

DeLong said applying for new grant funding will allow Marys-ville to make additional public improvements and continually revitalize the Uptown district.

Citizens are being asked to participate in a consumer survey, which will provide ideas, concerns and opinions that are necessary in assisting the city in completing the plan update.

To participate in the online survey, residents should visit www.surveymonkey.com/s/uptownmarysville by Dec. 9.
