Good Apple awards are given to district volunteers who have given extraordinary support to staff and students. Each school honors a volunteer or volunteers.

Each received an engraved wooden apple and certificate in appreciation for their many hours of volunteer work.

The school board also listened to Navin Elementary students participating in a program called C.H.A.M.P.S., which stands for "Covey Habits And Monarch Pride Students." They told the board what it means to be a member of the student leadership team, how they were chosen, what their daily responsibilities are and how they live the Covey Seven Habits every day.

Those habits come from Steven Covey's book, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People," and include being proactive, begin with the end in mind, put first things first, think win-win, seek first to understand, then to be understood, working together with synergy, and Sharpen the Saw, which means preserving and enhancing your greatest asset - yourself.

C.H.A.M.P.S. presenters were Aidan Johantes, Daniel Snodgrass, Cole Hamamoto, Brooklyn Heller, Jerry Homan, Max Provich, Hope Ferguson, Braeden Young, Edik Guider, Emma Knowles, Makayla Garretson and Maria Kessler.
