The Union County Health Department has named the city of Marysville as the 2012 Public Health Partner of the Year.
The award, given in recognition of a person or agency's contributions toward improving health in Union County, was presented at the March District Advisory Council meeting.
In 2012, the city of Marysville's contributions to public health included but were not limited to involvement in the Council for Union County Families, Safe Routes to School Committee, Safe Communities/Safe Kids Coalition, the Union County Wellness Consortium, and the abatement of a public health nuisance complaint.
"The staff and leadership team of the city of Marysville has been a strong partner in our efforts to improve health and wellness within our community," said Health Commissioner Jason Orcena.
The Union County Health Department has selected a Public Health Partner of the Year since 1998.
