The Union County Sheriff's Office was called to investigate a spate of accidents last weekend, most of which occurred on Friday, Dec. 6.
A 34-year-old Mt. Victory man was cited for failure to control after the Toyota 4-Runner he was driving went off Bear Swamp Road near state Route 739 at 5:08 a.m. Dec. 6 and hit a tree.
Deputies also cited a 51-year-old Delaware man for failure to control after the Jeep Wrangler he was driving went off the road and hit a tree in the 11000 block of Hopewell Road at 6:58 a.m. Dec. 6.
Two people, an 18-year-old Plain City woman and a 22-year-old Marysville man, were cited for failing to wear seatbelts after an accident at 5:25 p.m. Dec. 6 in the 15000 block of Hagenderferer Road. A Ford F-250 truck went off the road and rolled over.
The driver of a Cadillac Deville lost control on Springdale Road north of Leeper Perkins Road at 5:44 p.m. Dec. 6. The car slid off the road, hit a utility pole and rolled over. The driver was taken to Memorial Hospital of Union County and later transferred to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Also on Dec. 6, at 5:03 p.m., a Honda Pilot hit a Ford Escape and another Honda on U.S. Route 36 near School Street in New Dover. One person was taken to Memorial Hospital of Union County. A 52-year-old Ostrander woman was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead, sheriff's reports said.
The Marysville Fire Department, the Ohio State Highway Patrol and an officer from the Richwood Police Department responded to a four-vehicle accident at 5:15 p.m. Dec. 6 on state Route 4 near Wolford Maskill Road. According to the sheriff's office, Route 4 remained closed for several hours. One person was transported to Memorial Hospital of Union County for treatment.
Sheriff's deputies were called to two more accidents on Dec. 7. One occurred at 5:31 a.m. in the 24000 block of state Route 739 when a Dodge truck struck a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Later that morning, at 7:45 a.m., a Chevrolet Silverado drove off state Route 31 near Hillview Road and rolled over.

* A chainsaw and cutoff saw valued at $1,780 were reported stolen at 5:17 p.m. Dec. 10 from a property in the 8000 block of McKitrick Road.
* A generator worth about $500 was reported stolen at 4:09 p.m. Dec. 4 from a property in the 13000 block of Boundary Road.
* A 62-year-old Marysville woman was cited for failure to control at 6:33 p.m. Dec. 4 after the car she was driving went off the road in the 8000 block of state Route 739 and slid into a ditch.
* Several tombstones in the Claiborne Cemetery were damaged Dec. 9 after a car hit a deer on state Route 37 near Bethlehem Claibourne Road. The driver lost control and the vehicle then struck the tombstones. The accident was reported at 2:46 p.m.
* Prescription drugs and a PlayStation 3 were among the items reported stolen at 8:31 a.m. Dec. 9 from a home in the 11000 block of Converse Road.
An accident at the railroad crossing on Scottslawn Road Dec. 4 at 10:09 p.m. resulted in OVI charges against a 51-year-old Ostrander man.
The driver of a vehicle that hit a utility pole on state Route 4 just north of Scott Farms Boulevard was transported to Memorial Hospital of Union County Dec. 10. The accident was reported at 3:20 a.m.
Police made several arrests for theft last week from Walmart on Coleman's Crossing Boulevard.
A 37-year-old Marysville man was arrested at 8:07 p.m. Dec. 6 and charged with theft and criminal trespass. He allegedly took clothing and knives valued at $125, police reports said. A warrant had also been issued for him through the Marion County Sheriff's Office, police said.
A 17-year-old girl was arrested and charged with theft for allegedly stealing cosmetics and a cellphone case at 5:14 p.m. Dec. 8. The items were valued at $19.
Also Dec. 8, at 8:45 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was arrested and charged with theft for allegedly stealing four music CDs worth $56.
Police charged a 62-year-old Unionville Center man with theft at 1:47 p.m. Dec. 9 after arresting him for allegedly stealing two stocking caps and three packages of dolls, total value $49.
A 17-year-old boy from West Mansfield was arrested and charged with theft at 5:44 p.m. Dec. 9 for allegedly stealing a $40 battery case for a cellphone.
Criminal trespass charges were filed against a 34-year-old Richwood man at 11 p.m. Dec. 8 at a business on state Route 31.
On Dec. 5 at 11:32 a.m. a vehicle parked at a business in the 500 block of Coleman's Crossing Boulevard was damaged.
A woman reported at 4:26 p.m. Dec. 8 that dents were made in the side of her car while it was parked on West Fifth Street. The damage apparently was done when the door of another vehicle was opened, hitting her car, police reports said.
