The Marysville High School athletics program will be under new leadership. The board of education on June 27 approved the appointment of Joe Bline as the school's athletics director.

The Marysville High School athletics program will be under new leadership. The board of education on June 27 approved the appointment of Joe Bline as the school's athletics director.

Bline replaces Calvin Adams, who is retiring on Thursday, June 30.

Adams, 60, has been the school's athletics director since 1990. Before that, he was a teacher in the business education department at Marysville for 18 years.

Bline had been the athletics director at St. Marys Memorial since 2008. Before that, Bline was a ninth-grade science teacher at Johnstown from 2003-08.

Bline also was the boys basketball coach at Dublin Jerome in the 2007-08 season and at Johnstown before that.

Bline also was the boys and girls track and field coach at Johnstown from 2005-08.

Bline is a 1986 graduate of Newark High School and 1990 graduate of Kenyon College. He received his master's degree in sports administration from Ohio University in 1991.
