Jim Daugherty, who led the boys soccer programs at Bexley and Dublin Coffman before taking an assistant's job at Purdue University, has been named coach of the Marysville High School girls team.

Daugherty won the Division II state championship in 2005 at Bexley and a Division I district title in 2007 in his only season at Coffman. He spent the past four years as an assistant on the Purdue women's team.

"He brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience in coaching high school soccer as well as the unique quality of working with collegiate level soccer programs," athletics director Joe Bline said of Daugherty, who also will teach algebra and geometry at Marysville.

Daugherty replaces Joe McSwords, who resigned in January after serving as Marysville's coach since 2004.
