Thompson to play football at Tiffin

Thursday February 7, 2013 10:59 AM

Marysville High School held a signing ceremony Feb. 6 to announce that senior Al Thompson will play football at Division II Tiffin University.

Thompson was a starting offensive guard and also saw time at defensive tackle for coach Morgan Cotter’s team.

Cotter said Tiffin recruited Thompson to play defense.

“In the year that I have been the head coach, Al has worked very hard at getting better in all parts of his game,” Cotter said. “Al lost about 30 pounds because he felt that he would move better and that translated to the field. We would find ways to run behind Al and we used him in short-yardage situations on defense. I am very excited for Al because he found a place where he can continue his football career, but more importantly he will be able to receive an outstanding education.”
