Smith to coach Marysville

Terry Smith, who won a state championship at Hilliard Davidson, has been named Marysville High School boys soccer coach, pending school board approval.

Smith would replace Marc Kirsch, who resigned Dec. 5.

"Coach Smith has extensive successful coaching experience at both the high school and club levels," athletics director Joe Bline said. "The committee was impressed with his commitment to excellence on the soccer field and most importantly in the daily lives of those he coaches."

Smith coached in the Davidson boys program from 1999-2012 and was head coach from 2003-12. The Wildcats won the Division I state title in 2007, captured district titles in 2006, 2007 and 2009.

Last season, Marysville finished 8-5-4 overall and 3-2-2 in the OCC-Central Division.
