Hackett to take over as Marysville coach

Pending school board approval, Andrea Hackett will be the new Marysville High School girls basketball coach.

She would replace Aric Tucker, who resigned April 29 following his ninth season.

Hackett, 28, is a 2003 graduate of Springfield Catholic Central, where she played basketball, soccer and softball.

She also played basketball at Wittenberg University and was an assistant women's basketball coach at Otterbein for three seasons, beginning in 2007.

"I've missed coaching so much," Hackett said. "I saw the position posted and wanted to get back into coaching and continue to teach, so it's a great opportunity."

Hackett is an intervention specialist at Ohio Virtual Academy, an online charter school based in Maumee.

Last season, the Monarchs finished 5-18 overall after losing to Dublin Coffman 71-44 in the first round of the Division I district tournament. They went 0-14 in the OCC-Central Division to finish eighth behind co-champions Coffman and Hilliard Davidson (12-2).

The Monarchs last finished with a winning record in the 2009-10 season when they went 11-10.

"I've been filled in a little bit on what they have coming back," Hackett said. "I saw the past couple of seasons haven't been so great for them record-wise, so I'm looking forward to hopefully turning that around."
