The New Albany-Plain Local School District will say goodbye to its biggest class yet at graduation this weekend.

The school board approved 234 seniors for graduation during a meeting earlier this month.

"This is the largest class to graduate from the New Albany school district," Superintendent Steve Castle told board members.

All 234 students will graduate, providing that they fulfill all requirements, Castle said.

The students will celebrate commencement off campus for the first time at the Aladdin Shrine Center, 3850 Stelzer Road, at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

The record-breaking class produced 11 valedictorians: Robert Aurand, Ethan Cullinan, Thao-Vi Dao, Chirantan Ekbote, Grace Handley, Laura Larkin, Cara Laviola, Erin Passis, Stephanie Weiss, Josh Welty and Andrea Wolf.

According to district communications director Carole Dorn-Bell, all valedictorians will get to speak during the commencement ceremony.

Weiss, the valedictorian with the highest grade-point average, will give the valedictory address during graduation.

Dorn-Bell said tickets are not required to attend the ceremony.
