NACC president elected to executive board

New Albany Chamber of Commerce president Eileen Leuby has been elected vice chair of membership for the Chamber of Commerce Executives of Ohio's board of trustees.

The CCEO is a statewide organization with more than 220 chamber executives and staff members.

Leuby said her new position would benefit the New Albany chamber.

"It's wonderful to be connected to the wider chamber executives of Ohio," she said. "We share concerns and can solve problems together on issues common to our communities."

New Albany wins tax award

For the second year in a row, the village of New Albany has received the "Making Your Tax Dollars Count" award.

Mary Taylor, state auditor, presented the award to the village for its 2008 audit.

Fewer than 5 percent of government agencies in the state receive the award, according to information from Taylor's office.

"I'm pleased to recognize the village of New Albany for properly accounting for the tax dollars they spend," Taylor said in a press release last week. "The community should be proud of their commitment to making sure that each tax dollar is spent appropriately."

According to the release, to be eligible for the award, entities must complete and submit a comprehensive annual financial report, have no issues in their audit and have no other financial concerns involving the entity.

"I am honored that our office has been selected for this prestigious award," village finance director Jamie Ni-cholson said in the release. "I want to thank the entire village staff for their diligence and commitment to ensure taxpayer dollars are properly spent."
