The New Albany-Plain Local Schools board of education officially approved New Albany High School principal Scott Stewart's resignation at their meeting Monday, Feb. 22.

Stewart, who has been NAHS principal for the past 12 years and started his career more than 30 years ago with Columbus City Schools, plans to leave at the end of this school year.

He said it is time for him to move on.

"My wife and my family and I have discussed it for some time," he said. "We believe it is probably time for me to move on to something else.... I've been lucky enough to be in a great place with great people for 12 years."

Stewart, 52, said he tentatively plans to work with American Educational Consultants, a consulting firm based in Beachwood, Ohio.

District communications director Jeff Warner said administrators hope to post the job vacancy this week.

"Our hope is we will post both internally and externally," Warner said. "This is the recruitment season for principals. Our hope is to have someone identified this spring so we have a little bit of an overlap."
