The New Albany-Plain Local School District sent an e-mail to families Friday, Feb. 26, after reports that a stranger tried to lure a student into his car.

A New Albany High School student reported that a man in a black, four-door car approached him near Ellis Nook and Hilltop drives and offered him a ride.

The driver was described as a middle-aged Hispanic man with short, dark hair.

NA-PLS officials urged students to stay away from strangers and their vehicles, walk with a large group of people and stay in well-lit areas.

"To ensure the safety of every child, we must work together as a community and be vigilant in reporting and sharing information," the e-mail said.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact the Columbus Division of Police at 645-4545 or the New Albany Police Department at 855-1234.
