Jason Thomas, a former Marine Corps sergeant who led the rescue of the last two survivors in the World Trade Center wreckage on Sept. 11, 2001, is sponsoring a race to benefit Heroes for Humanity, a nonprofit organization.

Proceeds will benefit soldiers and students in need. Participants can run 9.11 miles; run or walk a 5K; or walk one mile.

The race will begin in front of the Ohio Judicial Center, 65 S. Front St. Race-day registration and packet pickup will be from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. The pre-race rally begins at 7:30 a.m., with the race to follow at 8 a.m. Packets may also be picked up Sept. 3-10 at Front Runner, 1344 W. Lane Ave.
