Third Street reopened Dec. 21 after the pavement was completely dug out and replaced with pervious brick pavers.

The pavers will allow storm water to drain between them and filter through layers of stone and a water quality device before being released into the Rose Run stream.

Third Street is the first "green" street in New Albany, which is part of the village's comprehensive stormwater mitigation strategy.

"It is no small feat to simultaneously improve our Rose Run stream and enable redevelopment," said village administrator Joe Stefanov. "We're accomplishing both."
