The Columbus section of the National Council of Jewish Women will host its annual opening event with a dinner from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Jefferson Country Club, 7271 Jefferson Meadows Drive, Blacklick.

The Columbus section of the National Council of Jewish Women will host its annual opening event with a dinner from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Jefferson Country Club, 7271 Jefferson Meadows Drive, Blacklick.

Past president and board member Julie Fishman will be given the Hannah G. Solomon Award, an honor given to a woman who has helped change and expand the role of other women in vital areas of community life. Only five of these awards have been given.

Columnist Connie Schultz will be the featured speaker for the evening.

Those attending are asked to bring personal items such as shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, baby wipes and powdered baby formula to be donated to the YWCA Family Center. Checks will be accepted as well.

The meeting is open to the public. The cost for the evening is $30. To make a reservation, mail a check to Becky Luck, 28 S. Roosevelt Ave., Columbus 43209.

A golf outing to benefit Melissa's House will be held Friday, Sept. 9, at Winding Hollow Golf Course, 6140 Babbitt Road.

Melissa's House is a facility that provides a comfortable, supportive home for adults facing mental health struggles.

Following the golf scramble, cocktails and appetizers will be served in the clubhouse.

Tournament awards will be presented.
