Buckeye Interactive is the first business to outgrow the New Albany business incubator, Inc@8000.

“We can accommodate six (employees), but if we’re going to grow further, we’ll need our own space,” said company president Brad Griffith.

Griffith said he started the business in 2009 in his New Albany home. In 2010, he moved into the New Albany Business Development Center at 6530 W. Campus Oval, the city’s first incubator. He had two employees when he moved into the new incubator at 8000 Walton Parkway.

“I’m confident that our revenue is sustainable and we can afford commercial space,” Griffith said.

He said he is seeking undeveloped space at 8000 Walton Parkway or space in 6530 W. Campus Oval.

“We are negotiating a lease,” he said.

He said 6,000 square feet of undeveloped space is available on the third floor of the building at 8000 Walton Parkway. He said he needs 2,000 square feet.

“I’m doing (employee) interviews this week but I’ve had to slow down my growth because of space,” he said. “I’m ready to hire and ready to grow, but I need the space first.”

Buckeye Interactive is a division of Griffith’s company, Buckeye Innovation. Buckeye Interactive provides interactive professional services, such as website development, training on website development, training on social media and web strategies.

Griffith said web strategy sets his company apart. His employees work with businesses owners to expand their use of the Internet.

The company works with clients from New York to California.

Buckeye Interactive developed websites for New Albany and the New Albany-Plain Local Schools, and it was hired Feb. 1 to create a website for Plain Township.

“Our local business is growing quite rapidly,” he said.

Griffith credits Inc@8000 for helping his company grow so quickly.

“The fact that I’ve been in an incubator has been instrumental in our growth,” he said. “I had no idea how beneficial it would be to us.”

Griffith said he did not hesitate to become an entrepreneur, having grown up in an entrepreneurial family of several business owners. He said he was raised in Dublin and became interested in computers at an early age, creating his first website at age 12.

He worked in information technology for an education planning company in high school and earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering before going to work for JPMorgan Chase and Co.

He received a master’s degree in business administration from The Ohio State University. Soon after, he started working with TechColumbus and the Go BIG Network.

TechColumbus provides support for Inc@8000, including training and on-site personnel.
