Plain Township introduced its new website July 23.

Township Administrator Ben Collins said the new site, designed by Buckeye Interactive, has "a custom-designed theme and interactive features."

It also provides a better content-management system so township employees can update the site regularly.

The township paid Buckeye Interactive $4,500 for the work. Three other bids were considered and Buckeye Interactive was the lowest, Collins said.

The old township site had some security issues and was not compatible with all versions of web browsers, he said.

The township trustees July 18 agreed to pay Buckeye Interactive another $4,000 for one year to host the site and help optimize the township's presence on Internet search engines.

"Staff anticipates there may be some support needed to improve the site after the launch," Collins wrote in his staff report to the trustees. "Contracting with Buckeye Interactive will provide monthly support and assistance. This also will alleviate some demands on township staff for (information-technology) support."

Collins said township employees will continue to upload content to the website.

"The new system is very easy to work with," he said.

Buckeye Interactive is a New Albany-based company that got its start in the city's business incubator.
