The Plain Township Fire Department and the New Albany-Plain Township Historical Society will host holiday open houses on Sunday, Dec. 2.
The fire department will hold its annual holiday celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. at the fire station, 9500 Johnstown Road in New Albany.
The firefighters of IAFF Local 3850 will bake cookies and Cub Scouts in Pack 150 will provide hot chocolate.
Santa Claus is expected to arrive in the fire department's ladder truck at 2 p.m.
Students from GnG Music Instruction in New Albany will perform at 2 p.m. and the New Albany Chorus will perform at 3 p.m.
The Cub Scouts will accept canned goods as part of their Scouts for Food campaign, which benefits local food pantries. The firefighters also will accept new, unwrapped toys for the Firefighters for Kids program, which benefits needy children in central Ohio.
About a mile away, the historical society will host a tour of the Ealy House, 6359 Dublin-Granville Road in New Albany, from 1 to 3 p.m.
The mid-19th-century home contains displays about historical development in the area. It was restored by the New Albany Plain Township Historical Society and includes period furniture and tools that have been donated by local families.
