Ken Stark, the New Albany-Plain Local School District's director of operations, is a candidate for a similar position with the South-Western City Schools in Grove City.

He could be hired by the South-Western school board Dec. 10.

Stark said he is being considered for the director of business services position, which is similar to his job in New Albany.

He said South-Western has 20,000 students, making it about four times the size of New Albany-Plain Local.

"It's an opportunity for me to grow and expand," he said.

Superintendent April Domine said if South-Western hires Stark, New Albany-Plain Local would seek an interim operations director.

She said she would talk to Stark to determine if the position needs to be changed.

"I will spend some time talking with Ken, reflecting on the opportunity for restructuring and ways to think about the work differently," Domine said. "We'll be doing that analysis before he leaves, as well."

Stark said if he is hired by South-Western, he would start Jan. 7.

"With his level of expertise and leadership skills, he has had an impact on the district," Domine said. "In many areas, he has led improvements and efficiencies and coordinated with community partners.

"He is an asset to the district. This is a significant loss and he will be greatly missed."
