New Albany High School senior Justin Varney, 17, sets up a laptop to screen his 21-minute short film, The Dogs of War, at the New Albany-Plain Township Historical Society meeting March 7 at the Plain Township Fire Station. Varney created the film for his senior seminar project, a graduation requirement for which students document at least 80 hours of research and work on a project. The film recounts a fictional meeting among prominent European leaders on July 27, 1914, the night before World War I began. Varney filmed The Dogs of War at the Ealy House at 6359 Dublin-Granville Road, a mid-19th-century building restored by the historical society. Buy This Photo
