Officers bust underage drinking party, arrest 20-year-old man

New Albany police said they broke up a party that involved underage drinking March 22 in the 7000 block of East Walnut Street.

Kevin David Bailey, 20, of the Walnut Street residence, was arrested and charged with furnishing beer to underage people and contributing to the delinquency of minors.

According to police reports, the March 22 incident was the sixth involving Bailey that police have investigated in the past two years.

Police said they received a tip about the party from a concerned parent.

Sgt. Mark Anderson said no juveniles were arrested. Police called parents, who came and picked up their children.

In an unrelated incident, New Albany police arrested three people for underage consumption March 30 and 31 following a traffic stop.

An 18-year-old man was arrested for OVI, no license plate, failure to signal and underage consumption at 11:50 p.m. March 30 in the driveway of a residence in the 4000 block of Ackerly Farm Road.

The man's two passengers, a 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy, were arrested for underage consumption at 12:01 a.m. March 31.

In other recent incident reports from the New Albany Police Department:

* A 24-year-old man was arrested for possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to register at 9:32 p.m. March 28 on state Route 161 at Hamilton Road.

* A lacrosse field on Peter Hoover Road was reported damaged by a car that drove onto the field March 23 or 24. The field is part of the New Albany-Plain Local Joint Parks District.

* A spare tire was reported stolen between 7:40 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. March 13 from the exterior of vehicle parked in the first block of North High Street.
