New Albany: Drill, battery reported stolen from construction site

New Albany police on April 3 investigated the theft of $230 worth of equipment from the Bob Evans Farms construction site on Smith's Mill Road.

A drill and a battery were taken from a locked box in one of the buildings under construction between 3 p.m. March 26 and 7 a.m. March 27, according to reports.

The victim, who said several people on the site have keys to the box, made the report to file an insurance claim, the police report said.

In other recent incident reports from the New Albany Police Department:

* Police investigated a report of identity theft April 1 in the 7000 block of Maynard Place.

The victim's Social Security number was believed stolen between March 29 and April 1 and used to file a federal tax return and claim a refund. The victim had not yet filed a tax return.

* Police tried to locate the owner of four NAPA automobile air filters, which were found in their original boxes by a pedestrian at 10:26 a.m. March 30 on Johnstown Road near the Alban Mews subdivision. Police contacted several NAPA stores and have been unable to find the owners.
