Two New Albany seniors featured in state art show
Eleven New Albany High School students participated in the 43rd annual Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition, and two were chosen for the state show.
Anthony Damico's mixed-media piece and Harshita Vemulapalli's pineapple drawing were chosen for the exhibition, which opened on Sunday, April 14, at the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower in downtown Columbus.
Of the 12,000 pieces entered in the competition, only 2,500 were chosen for the 15 regional shows held throughout Ohio, according to the program's website. The top 8 percent -- or 300 pieces -- moved on to the state exhibition.
Awards that offer scholarship money will be announced at noon April 14, prior to the show opening.
Eight other New Albany students were chosen to be part of the regional show: seniors Andrea Quach and Juli Sasaki and juniors Sayoko Ariga, Rebecca Brown, Abby Fox, Alison Schaffir, Alyssa Seneviratne and Lucinda Steurer.
