Fundraiser to benefit New Albany child
Joe and Lisette Tackitt of New Albany are hoping to raise $13,000 through a fundraiser by In Touch With Vendors from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at the Blue Moon Event Center, 1604 Gateway Circle, in Grove City.
Lisette Tackitt said the fundraiser will help the family purchase a support dog for their youngest son, Carter, 7.
Carter is autistic. The condition causes him to frequently try to leave his home or yard.
The dog from 4 Paws for Ability, a nonprofit in Xenia that trains dogs to track and support autistic children, would help keep track of Carter, his parents said.
The dog’s training costs $25,000 and the nonprofit organization asks families to raise their portion of the cost, Tackitt said.
Admission to the event is $5.
