Officers investigating reported thefts from vehicles

New Albany police are investigating two thefts from individuals that occurred the last week of June.

Police are investigating the theft of a purse taken from a car in an open garage in the 7000 block of Skarlocken Green sometime between 1 p.m. June 25 and 10:13 a.m. June 26.

The crime was reported at 10:24 a.m. June 26.

Police did not have a list of the items or a value for the items that were taken.

Police also investigated and recovered a briefcase that was taken from a vehicle parked in the 6000 block of New Albany Road sometime between 1:30 p.m. June 27 and 4:13 a.m. June 28.

The car's rear passenger window was damaged in the incident.

The crime was reported to police at 4:30 a.m. June 28.

The briefcase, which contained office supplies and keys valued at $100, was later found with all of its contents on Upper Clarenton North, near Walnut Street.

It was returned to the owner, police reports state.

In other recent New Albany Police Department incident reports:

* Police arrested a 22-year-old man for operating a vehicle under the influence, failure to register, failure to drive in marked lanes and improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle at 4:29 a.m. June 20 on Johnstown Road south of Miller Avenue.

* Police arrested a 21-year-old female for operating a vehicle under the influence and failure to drive in marked lanes at 3:18 a.m. June 29 on Chatham Green east of New Albany-Condit Road.
