New Albany hires White as interim high school principal

By

The New Albany-Plain Local school board on July 22 accepted high school Principal Ric Stranges’s resignation and hired Mark White as interim principal.

Superintendent April Domine said Stranges is the new principal at Delaware Hayes High School. His resignation is effective July 31.

Stranges was hired as the New Albany High School dean of students in 1999 and served as vice principal under Scott Stewart for nine years.

He was promoted to principal in 2010 when Stewart retired.

White will be paid $110,000 and will work Aug. 1 through July 31, 2014.

He worked last school year as the interim principal for Licking Heights High School and was a superintendent for the Gahanna Jefferson school district prior to that, said Patrick Gallaway, New Albany-Plain Local spokesman.

Domine sent out a letter to parents last week saying the district will begin a search in the next few months to find a new high school principal.

“We will involve faculty, staff and community members in our search and screening process,” she said.
