The Daimler Group is constructing two buildings in New Albany.
Bill Ebbing, New Albany Co. president, said during the Sept. 19 New Albany Chamber of Commerce meeting the company is working with Daimler to build a 26,000-square foot building at Market Street and Johnstown Road that will include a Mellow Mushroom pizzeria and a second restaurant, which has yet to be announced.
Rainbow Pediatrics and Associated Orthodontists both have agreed to move from other locations in New Albany into the building, Ebbing said.
He said that leaves 4,000 square feet of retail space for other tenants.
He said he hopes the facility will open by August 2014.
The second building will be northeast of Central College Road and New Albany Road East.
Todd Sloan, executive vice president of the Daimler Group, said the company built a 50,000-square-foot speculative building in that area which was leased completely by iQor, an outsourcing company, in 2012.
Sloan said the second building will be bigger at 70,000 square feet. It will be located north of iQor's building.
He said he hopes to have the building constructed and tenants moved in by spring of next year.
New Albany City Council on Sept. 18 voted 7-0 to accept the plat of NACOT Place, an 800-foot road that will access the property for the new building.
