The city of New Albany has scheduled Trick-or-Treat hours from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31.
The city's website lists suggestions to keep families safe during the event.
Children and adults should walk on sidewalks and look both ways before crossing a street. People should avoid crossing streets or entering a street between parked cars and wear light-colored or light-reflective clothing to be more visible, according to the website.
People can carry a flashlight and should visit homes with porch lights on.
The website reminds people to be wary of animals or strangers and encourages adults to inspect all candy before children eat any of it.
