Miss South Central Ohio Teen Amanda Giroux competed at the 2014 Miss Ohio Teen USA pageant in Portsmouth, where she was named first runner-up among 130 contestants.

Giroux, who attends school in New Albany, was crowned Miss SCO Teen in June 2013 at Teays Valley High School near Ashville and given the opportunity to represent the area in the recent pageant; which was held the same day as the parent pageant, Miss Universe. Miss Ohio USA is under the umbrella of the Miss Universe pageant.

As the first runner-up, Giroux is eligible for a $48,000 scholarship to Linwood University in Missouri.

The Miss SCO pageant is an official preliminary to the Miss Ohio USA and Miss Ohio Teen USA pageants. Miss SCO titleholders must be achievers, role models and have a sense of gratitude and humility.
