Thieves target unlocked vehicles on Belworth Square

New Albany police are investigating the theft of two pairs of sunglasses, keys, $3,000 in cash and garage-door openers between 11:30 p.m. Dec. 5 and 6 a.m. Dec. 6 from two vehicles and two garages in the 8000 block of Belworth Square.

Two unlocked vehicles were parked outside the garages and the thief accessed the garages attached to the homes using openers taken from the vehicles, the police report said.

Neither home was entered, the report said.

In other recent incident reports from the New Albany Police Department:

* Police are investigating the theft of a purse and its contents between 6 and 7:10 p.m. Dec. 12 from a parking lot on Zarley Street.

The front passenger window was damaged in the incident, the police report said.
