The New Albany-Plain Local School District will provide a public presentation of its 2014 Black History Month program, "Pieces of the Dream," at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts, 100 E. Dublin-Granville Road.
The performance will feature important pieces of black history, including the legacy and contributions of the Tuskegee Airmen in World War II and the desegregation of Little Rock Central High School in 1957.
The finale will include 120 students in grades 2-12 performing a hip-hop tribute called "Jump," choreographed by Abbie Keller of the Broadway Bound Dance Centre of New Albany.
The program was organized by New Albany Middle School special education teacher Sean Hooper and middle school aide Kelle Dildine.
The program will be performed for students in six school assemblies Friday, Feb. 7.
