Tuesday February 11, 2014 11:27 AM

The New Albany Police Department helped investigate the theft of an $8,546.25 Rolex watch that was mailed to New York for cleaning by a resident in the 7000 block of Brandon Road.

The incident occurred between Oct. 9, when the watch was mailed, and Nov. 6, when the resident called to check on it. According to the police report, Rolex Watch USA claimed it had not received the watch by Nov. 6 but the U.S. Post Office said Rolex Watch USA received the watch Oct. 11.

The post office and Rolex Watch USA declined to pay for the watch. The incident was reported to the resident's insurance company, which paid the claim and requested a police report be filed, the report said.
