The Franklin County Sheriff's Office arrested 56-year-old William Gebel of 7050 Hill Gail Drive, New Albany, at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 7 for pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, a second-degree felony.

The sheriff's office investigated Gebel for three months before making the arrest, according to a Feb. 10 release.

Gebel, a contractor for the U.S. Air Force, admitted to downloading and viewing 10,000 pictures and videos considered child pornography in the past 10 years after deputies acted on a search warrant Feb. 7 and seized computers, televisions and computer hard drives from his home.

Gebel was taken to the Franklin County jail.

An arraignment was Feb. 8, and a $10,000 bond was posted, according to the Franklin County Municipal Court website and Andy Callif Bail Bonds. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 14.

The investigation was conducted by the Franklin County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the release said.

According to the New Albany Police Department, the address is out of its jurisdiction.
