New Albany: Smash-and-grab reported in day-care parking lot

New Albany police are investigating the theft of a woman's purse between 7 and 7:10 a.m. March 4 from the Tutor Time parking lot, 10102 Woodcrest Way.

The woman claimed she locked her car and took her child into the building. When she returned outside, the passenger window was smashed and her purse was gone, according to the police report.

The purse contained several credit cards and $12 in cash, according to the report.

In other recent incident reports from the New Albany Police Department:

* Police arrested a 17-year-old for underage consumption and drug possession at 3:46 a.m. March 9 in the 6000 block of New Albany-Condit Road.

* Police arrested a 42-year-old man for OVI and crossing a divided highway at 2:08 a.m. March 1 on state Route 161 at U.S. Route 62.

* Police are investigating the theft of $4,500 in jewelry between midnight and 2 a.m. from a home in the 7000 block of Ogden Woods Boulevard.

The victim claims the items were in a closet and does not suspect it was a burglary, according to the report.
