New Albany: Several recent thefts under investigation

The New Albany Police Department is investigating several theft reports made this month.

* New Albany police are working with the Columbus Division of Police to investigate the theft of prescription drugs between 8 and 10 a.m. April 14 from a home in the 4000 block of Belmont Place in New Albany.

The owner of a cleaning company contacted police after one of the company's employees was picked up by Columbus police. The employee was carrying prescription medication, the police report said.

The victim was contacted and found the prescription bottles in the home on Belmont Place were empty, the report said.

The incident is under investigation with charges pending, the report said.

* New Albany police are investigating the theft of an $800 projector between 2:30 p.m. April 17 and 7:30 a.m. April 18 from a business in the 7000 block of West Campus Road.

* New Albany police are investigating the theft of an estimated $1,215 from a business in the 7000 block of Smith's Mill Road.

The money was taken between March 2 and April 2 by a person who was expected to take cash to the bank and return with money orders, the police report said.

The suspect left with cash April 2 and did not return to work.

In other recent incident reports from the New Albany Police Department:

* Police arrested a 44-year-old man for speeding, drug possession and OVI at 3:27 April 26 on Reynoldsburg-New Albany Road, south of Brandon Road.
