New Albany: Woman charged with OVI had open bottle of vodka

The New Albany Police Department cited a 43-year-old woman for OVI and open container following a check by the officer on a stopped vehicle at 12:35 a.m. Aug. 5.

The vehicle was parked on state Route 161 east of Johnstown Road with its reverse lights on and no taillights, according to the police report.

The woman inside was attempting unsuccessfully to start the vehicle, the police report said.

She failed to complete three field sobriety tests and was unable to understand the instructions for two of the tests, the report said.

After the tests were administered and she was taken to the police vehicle, officers found an open bottle of vodka in her vehicle, the report said.
