New Albany’s Lee, Watson make college decisions
Two New Albany High School football players signed national letters of intent Feb. 6.
Quarterback/defensive back Darron Lee signed with Ohio State, and running back Alan Watson will play at Columbia University.
Lee was 49-for-103 passing for 965 yards, 11 touchdowns and two interceptions and rushed for 733 yards and 10 touchdowns on 113 carries for the Eagles, who went 11-3 and lost to Trotwood-Madison 33-32 in a Division II state semifinal.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Lee also returned three punts for touchdowns and had five interceptions as a safety, the position for which he earned first-team all-state and is expected to play for the Buckeyes. Lee was the OCC-Capital Division Player of the Year and earned first-team all-district.
Watson’s 1,395 yards and 21 touchdowns on 173 carries led a rushing game that amassed 4,013 yards and averaged 7.5 yards per carry. He also had three kickoff returns for touchdowns, earned first-team all-league and all-district and was named special mention all-state.
