A 23-year-old man was shot and killed during a robbery Jan. 24 at the Knights Inn, 1300 E. Dublin-Granville Road.

Sani Palacíos was in room 340 with four other people when there was a knock on the door, according to Columbus police reports.

A man and woman, unknown to the room's occupants, entered the room when the door was opened, police said.

The man pulled out a gun and robbed the people in the room. He shot Palacíos before fleeing.

Medics declared Palacíos dead at the scene just before 10 p.m.

No one else was injured during the robbery.

Police don't know what made the man shoot and only have a vague description of the suspects who entered the room, said Columbus police spokesman Rich Weiner.

"There's very limited information," Weiner said.

The shooter is described as a black man in his mid-40s with a beard. The woman with him was white and in her 20s, Weiner said.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the homicide squad at (614) 645-4730.
