Threshold Community Services, an arm of Christian Assembly Church on Karl Road, operates an annual community benefit known as the Northland Jubilee.

This year's event is set for Saturday, Aug. 22.

"The Northland Jubilee is a one-day, community outreach that provides a variety of food, products and services to more than 2,500 people in need," according to the announcement from Lee Connors of Buckeye Sports Management and Brent LaLonde of Lalonde Communications. "We are looking for local businesses to come along side and help support us in serving the local community.

"Your support is greatly needed and will help raise money for this worthy cause."

Organizers are seeking donations of food, school supplies, bicycles, gift certifications and cash, along with such services as haircuts, family portraits, financial planning, eye exams and more.

"Much more than an event, the Northland Jubilee is an opportunity for the community to regain a sense of pride, increase its self esteem and offer hope," a presentation on the event stated. "Many families consider the Northland Jubilee their family 'vacation,' a day that they can spend together as a family, doing family activities in a safe and affordable environment."
